Laser Hair Removal
Want a smoother, faster back laser session with fewer bumps after? Good prep does most of the heavy lifting. Here is the no-fuss checklist men actually need before visiting a love💗epil studio.
Two weeks out: set your skin up for success
- Keep your back out of strong sun and skip tanning beds. A tan raises burn risk and can blunt results. If your back will be exposed, use SPF 30+ and cover up where you can. Remove any fake tan at least 7 days before your session.
- Stop waxing, plucking and depilatory creams. Stick to shaving only. The laser targets the root in the follicle, so it needs to be intact.
- Review your routine if you get back acne. Pause strong actives like glycolic, salicylic or retinoids 5 to 7 days before treatment, and switch to a mild, fragrance-free wash.
- Medications matter. Photosensitising antibiotics and some skin treatments can make skin reactive. Tell your practitioner about any current or recent meds so we can time your session safely.

48 to 0 hours before: clean shave, clean skin
- Shave the back 12 to 24 hours before your appointment. A close, even shave lets the laser energy reach the follicle efficiently and helps the session feel more comfortable. Use a fresh blade or a body trimmer, shave with the grain, and get help to avoid missed patches and nicks. Rinse with cool water and skip fragranced aftershave.
- Gentle exfoliation 2 to 3 days before can help lift ingrowns, but avoid harsh scrubs. Stop all exfoliation at least 24 hours before treatment to keep the skin calm.
- Keep skin product-free on the day. Shower, then avoid moisturisers, body oils, deodorant sprays, and any residue of fake tan on the back. Wear a clean cotton tee to the studio.
- Arrive cool and dry. Avoid a heavy gym session, sauna or hot shower right before your slot. Heat and sweat can make skin more reactive.
- Tattoos and moles on the back are fine, but we need to protect them. Point them out so your practitioner can cover them and work around safely.
What to tell your practitioner at the studio
Give your practitioner a quick download so we can tailor the plan:
- Any recent sun exposure or tanning, even if it was mild.
- Your natural skin tone changes seasonally, if any.
- Current or recent medications, especially antibiotics, acne treatments or anything that lists photosensitivity.
- Skin concerns on your back: eczema, psoriasis, active acne breakouts or a history of keloid scarring.
- Past reactions to laser or strong peels.
- Location of tattoos, large moles or scars that need covering.
Not sure how your meds or skin type may affect timing or settings? Book a quick tailored chat and we will map it out with you via book a consultation.
