Laser Hair Removal
Need a smoother chest or a tidy neckline for a wedding, race day or beach holiday? Smart prep and timing will do more for your results than any last-minute panic shave 💗
Plan your timeline around events and male hair growth
Laser works on hair in the active growth phase, so results build over a course, not a single visit. For body areas like back or chest, plan 6 to 8 weeks before a key date. Expect sessions every 4 to 6 weeks for body, and 2 to 4 weeks for facial areas like the neck. Initial redness usually settles within hours, and most shedding happens 7 to 14 days after each session.
Male hair is often denser and more hormonally influenced, so a couple more sessions may be needed to reach your goal. That is why many men, including red-carpet regulars, schedule laser ahead of big moments rather than leaving it to the week before. Your 7-day prep, tailored for men
Use this simple checklist to reduce discomfort and improve effectiveness.
- 4 weeks out: stop waxing, plucking or epilating. Shaving is fine and preferred between sessions.
- 2 weeks out: avoid sunbeds and strong sun on the area. No fake tan for at least 7 days, as pigment can affect settings.
- 3 to 5 days out: pause exfoliating acids or retinoids on the treatment area. Keep moisturising to support the skin barrier.
- 24 to 48 hours before: do a close shave on the area being treated. Shave in the direction of growth to minimise razor burn.
- Day of treatment: arrive with clean, dry skin. No deodorant on underarms, no oils, creams or fragrance on the area.
- Comfort tips: skip alcohol the night before, limit caffeine, wear loose cotton. If you are sensitive, ask about a light numbing cream or take paracetamol 30 minutes before if suitable for you.
- Beards and edges: decide the exact line you want on the neck or cheeks and shave to that line so your practitioner can match it.
- Ingrown prone? Start gentle exfoliation 48 to 72 hours after shaving and keep it up twice a week, avoiding the day before treatment.
- Tattoos and moles: flag them at your appointment so we can safely work around them.
- Medications and skin: tell us about antibiotics, isotretinoin, recent peels or any photosensitising products.

Aftercare that keeps skin calm and results on track
For the first 24 to 48 hours, treat the area kindly: cool compresses if needed, fragrance-free moisturiser or aloe gel, and SPF 30+ on exposed skin. Avoid heat and friction, so skip the gym, hot showers, saunas, tight collars and rough kit. Switch back to deodorant after 24 hours, ideally a mild, unscented one.
From day 3, gentle exfoliation helps hairs shed cleanly. Shave between sessions if needed, but avoid waxing or epilation to keep follicles intact. If you notice temporary redness or tiny bumps around follicles, that is a normal response and usually settles quickly.
Stay consistent with spacing: 4 to 6 weeks for body, 2 to 4 weeks for face. Many clients notice reduced regrowth and softer, sparser hair after a few sessions, with maintenance top-ups as needed over time. If you are planning a big event, aim to finish your last session at least 2 weeks before for peak smoothness and zero rush.
